Take a bulky yarn, dye it the color of raw wool, add dark flecks of color, tuft it with large, tightly packed loops and you have the classic Berber look. This simple recipe has countless variations, which yield different surface textures and color shadings. These are carpets that look good with decorating styles from primitive through prairie. Berbers can complement settings rustic and modern.

This is practical carpet. The tight loops stand up to heavy traffic. Many Berbers are made of olefin fiber, which is impervious to water-based stains, even bleach! Others are made with classic wool or durable nylon. By day the children play. At night the parents host a party. No need to worry about the carpet.
